Congratulations to Mechwarrior 2nd Class Houdini and Mechwarrior 1st Class Max Vallard! Welocme to Clan Widowmaker!
First up was Cadet Houdini He said in the interview after the trial "I engaged magpie's Timberwolf in a sneak attack after ten minute of predatory stalking; it was a test of cunning and instinct before I finally hunted him down in my Shadow Hawk.
I took significant damage from his CSMRMs which tore a hole in my torso, one lucky shot would have taken me out. However I managed to engage a cougar succesfully by ambushing it and attacking from behind, tearing it apart in haste.
Dwallen Delf Black Lanner is what finally got me, it was bad luck that I had to face him directly over open ground. He quickly gunned me down with my open torso and stripped my weapons with his srms.
Therefore my shadow hawk managed to destroy a TimberWolf and Cougar, it was already pretty badly torn up before it faced the cougar. I had to use all my talents of stealth warfare to be able to get these kills. Twice luck favored me, shame it didn't favor me a third or I may have taken mechwarrior first class. "
Next up was Cadet Max Vallard :
Excited after the trial with adrenalin still pumping he told the interviewer
" I was running Hunchie IIC 2x CLBX20 84 kph, opponents are Chimera (Houdini; noticed some MGs and probably MRM40), MadCat (Magpie; wasn't shooting a lot, so dunno, erll’s and missiles probably) and Uller (Dwellen_Delf; srms and is mediums), encountered in this very order (lights are pests, hard to hit and might chew off gun racks, so the Uller was the last; heavys are simple targets, but might cripple the mech with one salvo if allowed to shoot first, and I didn't know the map properly to exclude such possibility).
So I was sneaking through the map passive in such way that the opponent would have to approach in order to see me, and ran into Houdini's Chimera. I shoot red its side torso, knocked down, waited till clear shot on the same ST, shot and got no damage lag (ping 200-300), shot again, but got mixed up and hit the other ST, shot last time and blown him up.
So I was sneaking through the map again and noticed Magpie doing quite the same. Rushed to him, managed to flank before getting shot and kept hitting that MadCat torso till it exploded. Didn't really care about body parts since, unlike chimera, MadCat was slow enough for me to dodge its attacks.
So I was sneaking again in the same way, got to the opponent's drop zone, saw nobody. Was standing there like an idiot when noticed that Uller running up the hill. Thankfully, it was even more short ranged than me. Hit its CT red, knocked it down, unfortunately without clear shot on CT (my mistake, should've shot in the back, 56 damage would be more than enough), when it got up shot again, missed and tore off a hand, lost one of the gun racks but after 2 or 3 shots of the second one finished him." |
